[...] When i read the book The Alchemist, I felt a connection to the concepts/ideas presented in that book. The first concept is that of a personal legend - a path, a story that drives person’s life journey. Intertwined into this, paulo coelho’s hero - santiago - connects with various elements of nature as he wills the universe to guide/help him along his path. This is quite an interesting concept. The idea is that through your mind/soul you can connect with the elements of nature in a profound way that bends the laws of nature and time. This idea resonated with me quite a bit. Mind over Matter manifested not as creating things out thin air, but as communication with powers of the universe and results through that.
For years i have felt a longing within my heart to search for my destined path on this journey called life, but haven't the slightest inkling as to what my dreams are. i have searched not yet for my personal legend, for i don't even know what my dreams are. What is it i want? I am but an empty, hollow, shell walking the world searching for a dream and a way of life, only to find that i am like a machine merely responding with set, predetermined, actions and thoughts. i am programmed by the lives before me, and around me, to be a drone.... just an image. this book has openned the door to many great things that are possible, and new discoveries of myself and the world around me. i have the hope that one day i too may find that i am to be a part of the great workings of the world and that i will one day be thrust into a series of events that can begin to show me my own personal legend. i at least have hope for great things thanks to this book of spiritual an inner purpose. this is a book to keep for the ages to come to remind us of how the simple things can have far greater a meaning and purpose than even our own lives. it gives us a whole new perspective on life, and that ourselves, no matter how important we may think, are not the center of anything, but a part of something great that we all play a part in realizing. we are all the same. read it and you will find many answers, or at least something to help you think of how to find answers you are searching for. i myself will continue to find my dreams, in the hopes that i find my personal legend.

Hi,

I actually just finished reading "The Alchemist" a few hours ago and I, too found it to be a very deep spiritual book. I definitely agree with everyone's comments on fulfilling your personal legend. For as long as I can remember, I've always felt as though I have a greater purpose in life to make a positive impact in my environment. I have yet to realize exactly what my personal legend is but I do take great comfort in knowing that it does exist. In the meantime, I'm just looking forward to the journey and all the great wisdom that I'll gain from it. Take care!

Hi,

I too just finished the book "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho. The book intrigued me as I have always believed that we each have a purpose in life ... or in the author of the book's viewpoint ... a 'Personal Legend'. I believe I know what my personal legend is and have since I was a teenager but as the book points out, fulfilling your personal legend requires courage, sacrifice and belief in oneself. I am still on my quest to fulfill my purpose but feel it is important that I accomplish it before I leave this lifetime ....

Good luck to each of you who reads this in understanding your 'Personal Legend' and having the courage and conviction to carry it through ...

Hi,

I'm also very intrigued by 'The Alchemist", got it for my birthday and found it to be an amazing book. I think evrybody should read this once in a while to remind us things we tend to forget. I'm still searching for my 'personal legend', something I know I'll be truly satisfied and it'll be worth the pain. To all who've been touched, All the best in your quest for your 'Personal Legends".
