hyderabad - broadband choices

So I discovered couple of other ISPs who provide “broadband” in hyderabad. First one is sify broadband and there’s all this hype about the other one vsnl broadband. Here’s a scathing review about sify. Apparently 32kbps always on connection qualifies for being “broadband”. I haven’t found a website for vsnl broadband yet. techwhack also covers details of all the ISPs available. Although it would have been nice to include links to actual provider pages from techwhack

    Ravi,

Please update me how the beam cable is doing with the vonage system. I am a US citizent and I have been living in India for about 1 year. Just bought a computer, and I am ordering the vonage system from the US to use here, to call friends and family. My wife and I tried to get access to BSNL, but they gave us the run around for 2 weeks and then told us that Banjara Hills is not yet set up for the broadband connection. If the connection is good from Beam then I will try them, but I want to make sure I can run my Vonage phone with it.
    Awaiting a reply.

  2. Sandy Says:

    Hi,
Can anyone tell me which broadband connection would be best for using a Vonage phone? I just need it very soon….

    Awaiting a reply

  3. shiva Says:

    hi,
the best would be dataone broadband (by bsnl) for vonage phone.

  4. Lav Says:

I am using the vonage phone over the hathway broadband. The service is really poor. You have to have a download and an upload speed of over 50kbps to have a proper conversation, and unfortunately, either of these is below the required level. My suggestion to those who are negotiaing with the service provider for the internet link, please do talk about the upload also. Normally, everyone talks about download. If you have insufficient upload speed, the person at the other end will complain of your voice ‘breaking’ in between.

If anyone knows of a good service provider who can provide assured bandwith, kindly let me know. I live on the Raj Bhavan Road.

    hi guys,
so its not just me who has pain with this never-endin-problem.
last year we were usin beam at home, well we never happy.
this year somehow a frend of mine came up with this new idea: hathway.
for about 3 months i was usin thier 256 kpbs tariff, but d speed was never more that 100 kpbs. just last week i upgraded to thier 512 kpbs prepaid package and wonderin what will come out. cuz i am helpless whom to choose.
    what about sify?
two hathway engineers came to my place yesterday and i told them i will cancel my 4 connections if i dont get proper results and response by d end of this week.
i need upload speed of 216 at least, and thats what they told me i will get by this 512 kpbs package, but i m doubtfull.

    any suggestion?

  6. art Says:

    hello people,

I have tried tata dsl and beam, whom I am, alas, currently with.
Tata had good speed (512 kbps @ Rs1800 3Gb limit) but their transfer caps were getting to be too bothersome. Notched up huge bills till I came across beam cablesystems.
They offered 512 kbps unlimited transfer @ Rs 1500. Sounded too good to be true, and is. The speed you are provided after paying (in advance) is a measly, when lucky 99-110 kbps. The reason for this deceitfulness is the plan is UP TO speeds of 512 kbps, which you will never get. You are told this by the bill collector. Had to pay extra money to change my plan to 256 kbps @1000. Speeds exactly the same just paying less. By the way it is not 256, just up to 256 which in reality is 99-110 kbps still. The connection is out for a good 8 - 12 hours alternate days, often everyday. Usually just after 9 pm when their “technicians” stop working. Miraculously comes back at 9 am sharp. Good positive though is their support. They will hear your grievances and assure you that matters will be resolved, when they feel up to it.
Currently pursuing bsnl but been getting the runaround for the past month.

    HOPE THIS HELPS.

My experience with VOIP phone calls…………

Recently I got connection from BSNL (Dataone) Home 500 plan and IPvaani service. This is working great and every day my parents are calling me and talking for free.

Just FYI, I have purchased 2 phone adapters from IPvaani. I have connected one device at India (hyderabad) and one connected in US (using comcast broadband).

Its very good quality and no issues.

    Hope this will help.

    Hello Sandilya,

I am using BSNL in hyd, just 250/- per month and I am getting 256kbps speed.
Why you are going with private service providers. Previous even stuggled a lot. Better to go with standard one. Even I tried sify and other stuff..as my knowledge concern BSNL is the best.

    thnks harsha

I am using BSNL in hyd, just 250/- per month and I am getting 256kbps speed.

but only 400 Mb is alloowed and monthy i need around 6-7 GB for uploads and downloads

from 2-5-06 to 9-5-06 i used around 2.67 GB so that plan is no way useful for me :)

iam considering bnsl’s unlimited 256 Kbps plan.. but its bit costly around 900 Rs/moth

  15. Harsha Says:

    Hi Sandilya,

250/- plan is good for home purpose (usage less than 400MB). This 900/- plan BSNL started recently. But if you need unlimited bandwidth 900/- plan is good. This plan includes ur telephone rental. means it is coming for 600-700/- that is also unlimited. Now I am using Rs 500/- plan for single computer and IPvaani free phone call service. Planning upgrade to 900/- plan to watch online movies :-)

    Happy browsing and calling.

Thank you for the IPVaani tip. My in-laws currently have Sify, whch is a nightmare. Hopefully I can get them to switch to Dataone, but in the meantime has anyone tried IPVaani with Sify?

  20. AG Says:

Just looking at Dataone. Are people really managing to use VoIP and their regular internet usage (download and upload) in 400 MB a month? And in the 900 Plus plan what does “MCU charges per Pulse @ Rs. 1/- ” mean? Sorry, don’t know much about Indian telecom.
    Thanks

  21. praveen Says:

I have been using Beam Cable 256 kbps unlimited plan. The actual speeds are between 64 - 100 kbps. It will never touch 256 kbps during the day.

The possibility of touching the 256 kbps is after night 12 midnight and till 7 am in the morning. Throughout the day till midnight there is a data cap of 64 - 100 kbps .

They mention the plan as speeds upto 256 kbps which one will never get through out the day…………………………….

One has to spoil their sleep and sit at comp after midnight which only spoils the health of internet user who wants 256 kbps…….

Beam Cable Gimmicks….they never mention that the 256 kbps spped starts at 12 midnight and end at morning early hours………..but they advertise as speeds upto 256 kbps……..

  22. praveen Says:

Beam cable charges 850 per month and 9000 for annual package for speeds upto 256 kbps. But in reality they provide 64 - 100 kbps during tha day untill midnight.

BSNL is providing unlimited 256 kbps …for 9000 annual package and 900 monthly. If anybody is already using this package, please let me know the drawbacks…

  23. praveen Says:

    Hello Art,

Thanks for your valuable feedback. I was previously thinking of changing to 512 kbps from 256 kbps unlimited plan of beam cable internet.

But as you experienced the same speed of 90 - 100 kbps for 512 kbps unlimited plan of internet. My subscription ends shortly, I am thinking of not to renew the subscription of beam cable and shift to BSNL unlimited 256 kbps plan..

    HI All,

First a BIG thanks to all of you for giving me more insite about BroadBand connections. All in all it looks like BSNL is better. Can any one suggest how to set this up except that calling toll free which will never connect. I live in SeriLingamPally, Hyderabad. I have an BSNL phone in home.

And how to buy IPVaani.. and how do we dail any US numbers. Let us say some of my friends have a some xxxxx number, so can I call the same number if they have Broadband connected. In India lets say I have broad band from BSNL and some of you have with TATA or Sifi which they give some extra phone number with broad band, How can I call them? Do they need to have IPVaani adoptor too to call them?

    Cheers,

    Hi,
I’m presently using 256kbps, unlimited download from hathway. The speed and Customer Service really SUCKS. U call the call centre and they promise u that your problem will be solved the next day latest by 11:30 am. Well, even after 4 months of continously reminding them every fortnight nothing happens. All u get is false promises.

From past two months they gave excuse that they are undertaking major works at their server in Mumbai so speed is slow.

So next time anyon wants a net connection, please enquire about the customer service also.

  33. ArT Says:

    hey sheetal,

if your parents are getting the connection through a router you might have to forward/open a port for the phone to connect to. The ISP might help in this regard or if someone at your house is tech savvy it is pretty simple. Connect to the router/modem’s IP. There should be a choice for firewall/port forwarding. Select the required port there and the phone should work.

the other thing might be that sify might block some ports so it is better to check with them before opening any ports.

Last but not the least their PC might have a software firewall which might block the phone. Allow the phone to pass through.

    Hope all this helps.

Could someone advise on how to contact BSNL in Hyderabad for a brand new connection?

  37. GVS Says:

If you are using BSNL, you should either set the userid/password in the ADSL modem or Router; then you will be able to connect VOIP. Since ADSL broadband requires signup to access internet unlike the cable broadband which dont require the login.

    Hi,

I sent a sunrocket adapter to my parents in bagh-lingampally in hyderabad a couple of months ago, So far I would say I have had reasonable luck with using it with bsnl plan. They have the 250 plan, I have been trying to get them to up it to atleast the 512 plan.

Anyway, Here are the details. It appears that when I call them I get perfect voice quality no complaints. But, when they call me it is a different story… I can hear them but its choppy. I can understand what they are saying perfectly well but, it gets irritating (especially since I know I can call them back). But recently I tried calling them from my brothers place (and later my land line) I noticed that I was experiencing the same choppiness. My conclusion is that the dsl connection that they have doesn’t have the required bandwidth. I would like them to try a different ISP to see what they can get. I am thinking of asking them to try AirTel but does anyone know if there are installation charges and If it doesn’t work out, can they cancel out , no questions asked.

I probably don’t mind paying a little to find the perfect solution but, my I won’t hear the end of it from my Dad. You know how Indian Parents are.

    Any comments, Any ideas.

I brought a sunrocket gizmo device to Ahmedabad. Used it with BSNL’s 256/0.4GB package. The setup and connection was plug and play. But upstream voice quality is miserable I cannot get my voice through clearly at all the and VOIP light goes away in a few seconds after which the call is also dropped. The downstream voice is great. As good as any other. Not sure what is going on… is BSNL cutting off the port? Or is the problem at Sunrocket’s end?

    Hello Everyone,

My family is in India, I bought them a vonage phone from US & send it over to India. It appears the broadband ISP provider does not provide a modem. They apparently are sub-leasing the ip with something called “Line Card”. All we got from this cable provider was a cable that hooks up into Internet.

Our Router with vonage is Motorola VT2442. We hooked up “cable cord’ into “Internet Port” on router > Connected another ethernet cable from yellow ethernert port on router to laptop. Guess what, internet does not work. If we connect the cable cord into one of the yellow ports, then internet on laptop works.

We followed the sequence of steps

Connected Cable Cord to Ethernet Port 4
Connected Ethernet Cable from Port 3 to Laptop
All lights on router blink except phone.
We tried to reset Router, no luck
We tried to change phone from port 1 to port 2, no luck
For any permutations, we cannot get the phone lite to get lit on router & hence no dial tone.

Did anyone have success in using vonage in India, if so - please help us out.

From October 2006 the download speed of this fucking connection is

The ping response time I am getting now from Google server is around 900 to 4000 ms !!!! Some times web page is not opening. On the past I got 30 KB/s download speed and 150 to 200 ms ping response time.

No notice , no announcement nothing on their website to resolve the problem.
I have repetedly e-mailed them asking for remedy nothing happend so far not even a reply .They are so uncivilized I think if you called them ‘dog’ the dog will suicide in shame.

IS THIS BROADBAND CONNECTION ??AND IS THIS A CUSTOMER CARE ??

So my suggestion is do not go for a new connection from BSNL (Bhikhari Sanchar Nigam Limited) wait until they can give true broadband speed throughout the year to all of their customer and create a customer care desk which trully takes care.

p.s. Sorry for my language but I am just irritated with their speed and care.

    Hi,

I have a Beam Cable connection at home in Hyderabad and a Vonage Linksys PAP2 adapter. I have the beam cable guy to do the vonage connection. He did something. That day it worked but the call connection was very bad. He said he’ll upgrade the speed. But from then on vonage is not working at home. I request one of you to send me a step by step procedure of connecting vonage Linksys PAP2 with beam cbale connection. I don’t have a router at home.

Could some one tell me where to get Airtel broadband connection?

Desert, got some info on Airtel broadband contact?

    Thanks a lot!!

  75. gvs Says:

When setting the VOIP adapter remember a few things,

    1) Most dsl and broadband connections in India need login; If you have an adapter with Router builtin, you can give the userid and password there or else you need to set the userid and password in the dsl modem itself so that it wont ask for userid and password.
People getting Internet thru ethernet cable from cable providers need to ask the cable provider to add the adapter MAC address to your account.(most of them do the setup of the adapter for you)

    2) Make sure your provider is not blocking some ports.

I have used multiple connections for vonage and very one of them worked, I found BSNL has better and consistent speeds.

    Thanks
    gvs

  78. Ram Says:

    Hey guys,

I had bought a sun rocket connection a month back and sent it to my folks in Chennai, who have an Airtel connection. They were able to install it after some intial trouble but quality of the calls had been good. Today when they got their monthly phone bill from Airtel, they found that they were being charged Rs.6 per minute talked !!! That is more than what you pay for a calling card !!!

    1. Has Airtel charged anyone else for using a VOIP connection ?
    2. Does any other network like BSNL charge for using a VOIP connection ?

Talking to the Airtel customer service is not taking us anywhere …. Let me know if anyone else is experiencing the same thing. Thanks.

  79. Reddy Says:

    Hi,

I am planing to use vonage in Hyderabad, I am looking broadband connection..

Which is a good service.. in Hyderabad..

  80. Krishna Vamshi Says:

Guys.. Vonage has an option called bandwidth saver and It would let you get good voice quality at the worst speeds.. The internet speeds in India are not good but the bandwidth saver option would help you get what you want.

Secondly installing the VOIP adapter with built in router requires your Service provider to add the mac id of the router to there data base and setup the username and password in the router which is pretty easy. As long as you know how to login to the routers admin page.

FYI… Vonage.com has the support documents on all the routers and adapters they sell and how to login to setup those devices. ;)

You pay a lot of money to get internet service in India.. why dont you let your service provider to come and install vonage for you.. you are payiing for the service, so its your rite and your service provider is obligated to install it for you.

Comming down to the final topic.. you download and upload speeds.. dont blame the ISP, the poor guys do not what your service provider (local cable guy) is doing.. They have an option to limit your upload and download speed, the next time you see slow speeds.. pick up the phone and yell on the phone ;) its your rite to demand better service and you deserve the service, when you pay for it.

  81. Anil Says:

I see a good voip deal posted at TringoTel . They claim to provide a US number similar to vonage and sunrocket. However I am not sure how their service is, voice quality, bandwidth requirement. Thanks,

Last month I bought this Tringotel service for my parents in India (Mumbai). I am using it over MTNL (Triband) and I really appreciate their voice quality. Yes, its true they provide the same DID like Vonage and Sun rocket. Their customer support was also pretty good as they got the thing installed at my place in no time at all. I have not had any bitter experience with them to date. I highly recommend it…

  87. rajat Says:

Hi Guys……BSNL is rocking now ever since it got upgraded to 2MB. I am using this in chandigarh and am getting an average of 1Mbps with peak speeds of 1.4Mbps (1400Kbps, approx 180kilo bytes per second). There is no comparison to BSNL now although the uplink speed is rarely above 150 Kbps but vonage needs a minimum of 90 Kbps to work well and BSNL seems to stay above that at all times. So if you are having problems with sify/tata/airtel/beam sheam whatever - switch to BSNL. I’d love to hear from vonage users and their experience as I plan to set up a line myself on BSNL in chandigarh - you may write to me at rajatsehgal at yahoo dot com. Thanks.

It seems you are the only successful person in installing SUNROCKET product. i am unable to install it. could you help me in this regard.

  95. Akshay Says:

HOW TO INSTALL SUNROCKET IN INDIA!!!!

i tried to do this for over 3 days now and finally figured it out!

these instructions are only for pppoe users, which i’m asuming you all are. i use bsnl’s unlimited internet tariff, broadband speed of 100 mbps. i don’t use a router.

    1. connect your modem to the sunrocket gizmo via an ethernet cable into the socket that says “Internet”.

    2. connect your gizmo to your computer with another ethernet cable from the “ethernet” socket on the gizmo to the one on your computer.

    3. turn on your computer, then turn on your gizmo. (your computer does not necessarily have to be off before this).

wait for about 60-90 seconds and you’ll see a balloon that says
    “Local Area Connection
    Speed 100.0 Mbps
    Status: Connected”

on the corner of your screen. if you don’t see this check your cables and see if everything is connected. if everything is connected and you’re still having a problem, right click on My Computer, click on the “Hardware” tab, click on the button that says “Device Manager”, click on the cross next to “Network adapters”, Right Click on “Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC” and click Enable. or Disable and then Enable. Wait for a few minutes. Otherwise proceed to step 4.

    4. open internet explorer and type in 192.168.0.1

    5. on the first drop down menu you will see DHCP. click on the arrow next to it and select PPPOE.

    6. Lower on that page you will see 2 boxes asking for PPPOE User Name and Password. enter the username and password you use to sign in for your bsnl when you usually access the internet.

    7. Click Submit All changes.

    8. turn on your modem. plug in any touchtone phone into your gizmo. you can plug in the phone at any time.

    9. i hope you see three green lights on your gizmo. one for power. one for internet and one for your phone. the phone light must be a steady green light unless the receiver is off the cradle, where it should flash green.

btw, if you make a mistake or it still isn’t working, try resetting your gizmo and try all the steps again. to reset your gizmo, connect a touchtone phone to the gizmo and dial **** on the phone (your gizmo should be on by the way) this will open the interactive voice menu. now dial 73738# and press 1 to confirm. this resets to factory settings.

for some reason i’m not able to surf the internet while talking on sunrocket so when i need to go online, i give a direct connection from my modem to my comp. i bought my sunrocket system in the us and finally got it to work today. voice is clear too. oh, and you don’t need to have your computer on the get the gizmo to work anymore after you follow the above steps. all you have to do now is to connect your modem to your gizmo and to a phone. see, when you configured it, you already gave it your pppoe username and password which is now stored on your gizmo, so the gizmo can connect to the internet by itself. pretty cool huh?

    hope this solves your problem.

    Hi All,

For the residents of Hyderabad, BSNL seems to be a good internet service, I recently got the inside information that all other ISPs are bribing the BSNL top officials and stopped issuing new connections for a month. Therefore I had got to renew a 3 month plan in less than 15 days.

Hey Srini , Sunrocket works pretty well in India.
I have AIRTEL at home and the sunrocket router LED for Internet and Phone came on in the couple of minutes I connected it to the Airtel Modem.
I hyderabad i feel AIRTEL is the best. BSNL takes a long time to give you a connection. But with BSNL also i have seen friends getting Vonage, Sunrocket, Packet8 installed at home.
I am trying with Sify right now but facing some problems.
I know frends who are using Beam Cable and they are also doing fine.
See fellas all VOIP phone services are doing fine in Hyderabad as far as I know.
And I know ppl using Airtel, BSNL and Beam Cable have had success .
I guess for connections using ADSL Modems you have to request the ISP to keep you always LOGGED IN rather than dialing up everytime you turn ON your computer. Dial up type wouldnt work for VOIP.
So its all how you set up your internet connection . Otherwise lots of ppl have had success with all combinations .
Thats all I know from my experience. Keep trying felllas.

  107. ram Says:

I have BSNL. I tried SmartAX MT882 Modem(Bridged Mode) -> Gizmo (PPPOE) -> Computer. With this setting Line 1 light is not turning green. Internet light is green. I am able to access internet from the computer.

So I tried using testports.exe from voipuser website with configuration below

    SmartAX MT882 Modem(Bridged Mode) -> Computer(PPPOE connection)

NO Sunrocket GIZMO INBETWEEN. No firewall.

So when I try testing for 5060, it says failed. For the remaining all ports like 443, 1000 etc, the testports.exe shows passed.

Does this mean BSNL is blocking 5060 port.

    Thanks

  109. Krishna Says:

    Hi All

Is your sunrocket still working. Mine was working until March 5th and after that no matter how many times I reset the gizmo and do the setup it does not work anymore. Would like to know if this is the case in yours also. I tried to call BSNL guys and they say that they don’t block any ports. Initially I tried 5060 and it failed. Sunrocket failed to help me as the gizmo is not in US. After many trials I ibought the gizmo to US and it works great. The wierd thing is when try canyouseeme.org to see 5060 is open, guess what it failed in US also but it works.

I have a feeling where sunrocket is blocking something on there end when they see that we using it in a different country. My analysis may be wrong. I fyou guys can submit your experience I would appreciate.

  112. Srinivas Says:

SunRocket states on their website, “You will need a minimum upstream and downstream capacity of 120 kbps.” BSNL only does 56 kbps upload so SunRocket won’t work on it. If you’d like to test to see whether your internet connection will support SunRocket, go to:

I am looking for a VOIP connection to talk to my parents in India .I was thinking about MPINGI but now getting very poor feedback I am thinking something else. Can anyone suggest which one is good ?

  116. Kumar Says:

    Hi,
I have recently started using sunrocket with Data UL for Rs900 ,it looks the their upload speed is around 56 Kbps and is affecting the voice quality , so I am thinking of upgrading to a plan higher UL speed . Any suggestions ?

  117. Sudin Says:

For propective MPINGI users, beware - just back out as soon as you can. Its an organized scam. They intentionally dont set it up giving BSNL reasons in order to cover the 30 day trial period. At the end the service will start working even without password changes from BSNL - that is just an excuse. And then one agent will tell you that you can still continue the trial which you will hate due to their quality. Now when you call to cancel, they will say you have crossed your trial period and now you will have to pay all the charges plus cancellation charges plus some other fictitious taxes.

  118. Madhav Says:

    MPINGI sucks…

Really those blood suckers are dangerous if you entertain them.
Absolutely pathetic service and hopeless response.

I subscribed in October, even today as I speak, they could not configure why my parents are unable to make a call to me. They blame BSNL etc., Stupid gang. One, Mr. Shakthi Vel will answer all you queries as he likes. He questions if your internet is working? Sometimes, he says the connection can be easily tested with their soft phone. When I asked them to disconnect me, they first asked for some time, 4 months or more. Later they started blaming BSNL and my parents for not responding. Off late he started sending mails which try to threaten on the fact that , if I disconnect, he will punish with disconnection charges. Real fool, where was the connection first thing? I am sure, this company will be crushed by the big birds like Vonage and BSNL itself. I wish to see that day soon.

  119. amjadkhan Says:

    Hello all,
i was able to successfully install vonage phone in hyd. I will share my experience with you all.

    1. Do not try to install this yourself alone. Call your ISP support guy at home or take the gadgets with you to his office.

    2. we have internet connection thru cable with a static IP. this is different from the cable internet of USA/Canada.

    3. the minimum upload/download speed you need to make OK quality VOIP work is 128Kbps/128Kbps. Make sure you buy the plan with these speeds or more. we are paying Rs 850 per month for this now. Do not cut corners and try to save money here.

    4. the vonage device we have is a router with built-in adapter from Vtech. The key thing to do is to configure the router. you can do this with any web browser, you will have to enter the address of the router, the login, password (all this is there in the manual).

    5. you will have to configure the router to take “static IP” and enter the static IP number, the intenet gateway number is also required. this step should better be done by your ISP tech support.

    6. once this is done, you will have to change your PC LAN setting from “static IP” to automatically get IP, as the router will give this now.

hope these help you guys. it works for me. Key thing is take help from ISP guy, and buy the plan with Min 128Kbps speed.

    Good Luck to all.

    Hey Folks,

I have a Sunrocket Internet connection at my parents place in Hyderabad. We have a BSNL 256kbps line. The Sunrocket system was working quite well in the month of April and May 2007. However, around mid-may, the phone started getting disconnected at around 15 minutes, and I had to dial back again. The voice quality when my parents called was always poor, so I would call back, and the voice quality has always been good.

My parents can either access the Internet or the phone, but have never been able to access both of them together.

Now, suddenly, we are not even able to speak for more than 2 minutes. Most of the time, the sunrocket’s phone lite is off, and even when it comes on, the conversation doesn’t last more than 2 minutes.

Is anyone facing a similar issue? If so, have you been able to resolve it. Please advise.

    Hi,

I have taken VOIP from MPINGI, but their device is not working well. I have called the technical department many times, and they are not willing to help fix the problem. Instead they keep charging every month. I have cancelled the line, and they charged $50 for cancellation and $125 for rest of the period upto 1 year of service. I STRONGLY WARN this MPINGI Company and BE CAREFUL if you want to think about their VOIP service.

Please somebody help me to set up this device.

    Thanks in advance.

  147. KP Says:

Hi Currently I am using Vonage phone with Airtle. It is good. good voice clarity over Vonage. I took 256kpbs speed. but it’s working good. Don’t go for lower brands like local cable internets. previous I used BSNL. BSNL is best one when compare with all other broadband service providers. But it will take time for connection. Don’t mind even if it is taking more time until your turn. mean time you can go for alternate. If you get the BSNL for get about all. Really it is worthy for amount. Now it is offering more plans for residential usage. BSNL is best when you compare with all other major service providers.

Hello, I have been using Telifu as the VOIP service to make unlimited calls from India to USA and vice versa. I recommend using them. Check them out www.telifu.com I switched from SunRocket to them and I really enjoy the quality and service. The india support center really helped me out in getting the adapter shipped direct to India and the setup.

    Airtel ROCKS!
For 800rs, you need not worry. you can go for 128kpbs unlimited plan @ 699=tax=770 a month or 256kpbs-1gb-(8pm-6am- unlimited)- for 550+taxes=600 or 999rs-256kpbs-unlimited-the best plan in india-i bet the best plan in india with consistent speeds and good uptime and downtime and best upload speed in india for 256kpbs. or see at http://airtelbroadband.in/tariff/tariff.htm”

Dont u guys see this….this guy is advertising for airtell…lemme tell u airtel sucks!the speed they offer is burst speed…means even if for once a month u see a download of the specified speed their obligation is satisfied…somthing like….wud u pay ur milkman for giving u pure milk once a month at the expence of diluting it for the rest of the month….
    Just think about it!
    Cheers

    Hi,
I am able to to configure a sunrocket gizmo(Innomedia MTA6328-2Re) in INDIA through BSNL broadband service. I can receive incoming calls (in conjunction with grandcentral) in my phone and can even do a outbound call from India using grandcentral soft phone (GC address book). But I cannot call any US number from my India phone by using the phone number pad. When I dial a number, there is dead silence and nothing happens.
Did anybody configure the modem and make outbound phone calls from India?
Any help in this regard will be appreciated.
As FYI, my other modem in US works perfectly with similar setup.
    Thanks
