Moving on from Yahoo!

After 9+ years, yesterday was my last day at yahoo!. It’s been a great ride at yahoo!. Looking back, the last 9 years were exciting, fulfilling, educating, enriching for me.

In the last 10 years internet & information revolution has transformed the world and peoples’ lives at a previously unimagined pace. Yahoo! has been (and will be) a great innovator, pioneer and influencer during this revolution. From personal tools like calendars & addressbooks to research content, from financial content to travel arrangements, from business deals to keeping friendships, every part of human life is being continually improved because of the internet. As you look at the landscape, Yahoo! stands out as perhaps the biggest influencer (most comprehensive product) on the internet.
I have to thank yahoo! for giving me the opportunity to participate in this effort. I feel that i contributed a tiny little bit to the revolution and it’s very gratifying. It’s not like this revolution has ended, it’s still the beginning and i hope and desire to contribute more.

The engine behind all revolutions has always been human thought and effort and it’s true for the internet revolution as well. What I takeway from the past 9 years is the deeply enriching experience of working with some of the smartest people on this planet. I made great friends, went through some great experiences with colleagues, learnt a lot from all my associates. I have had the good fortune to have worked on several different products at yahoo. I ended up working with super-smart people in all those products. I learnt a lot about technology, products, business & management. I want to thank all of my colleagues for teaching me what i learnt.

Thank you Yahoo!s. I will always look back fondly at the great yahoo! times of YEPs, frisbee games, basketball games, great product/business discussions, and awesome product building!

Moving on from yahoo! definitely does not mean retirement. I do want to continue building internet based products that help people in their lives.
More on that soon…

Cool! Glad to have worked with you, and glad to hear that you’re not going to take up that lucrative mexican bait merchant thing.

As always, best of luck, have fun and stay in touch.

Not bad at all! Compared to some folks’ complaints like “after x number of years at so-and-so company, all I got is this lousy tee-shirt”, you seem to have done well in nine years. Best wishes to you in your adventures outside of Yahoo!.
